Who am I?
Hello there! I'm Amanda Pays, also known as Sisster108, and I'm a one-woman show.
My passion for photography ignited at the age of 2 when my mom entrusted me with a disposable film camera. Those early snapshots, developed at the local Walgreens, still hold a special place in my baby scrapbook.
But it was at the age of 12 when I truly embarked on my photography journey, armed with a vibrant, pink point-and-shoot camera. From there, I graduated to professional gear and enriched my skills by attending classes at local colleges.
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest gifted me with a diverse range of landscapes to capture, from serene beaches, arid deserts, lush forests, and bustling cities.
Currently, I'm delving into the world of film photography, and my fiancé and I have curated a collection of around 15 unique film cameras.
Don't hesitate to reach out, and let's start a conversation!
Who are you outside of the photography world?
I'm currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Criminology, Law, and Justice right here in the vibrant city of Chicago. My enthusiasm for my research and my dedication to making a positive impact on others are my driving forces. Fortunately, my passion for photography seamlessly intertwines with my academic pursuits, enhancing the depth of my studies.
On a personal note, I'm thrilled to share that I recently got engaged to my partner, Stephen. Our journey together has spanned over five years, and we're eagerly anticipating the start of our married life.
Although my cherished childhood dogs are no longer with us, I'm now a proud pet owner to a Gargoyle Gecko named Leche. Our relationship is a unique blend of desire for cuddles on my part and her steadfast preference for a life of solitude.
As for my friends, they would describe me as an extroverted soul, always ready for a great time and bringing positive energy wherever I go!
Where does Sisster108 come from?
Back when I was 7 years old, my friend and I were creating Webkinz accounts, and she settled on the username "Sisster107." We thought it would be fun to have similar usernames, so I chose "Sisster108." That decision has stuck with me ever since, and I've grown quite fond of the name.
For clarity, my username is pronounced as "sister one 'oh' eight." And to address the burning question, yes, that's how we believed "sister" was spelled at the time.
